The Grand Designs Awards 2010

The Grand Designs Awards 2010 celebrate excellence in architecture and design. They are a star feature of this year’s Grand Design Live show, which is partnered by Homes, Property. The show will take place from 1-9 May this year at Excel in Docklands (www.granddesignslive.com).

The Grand Designs Awards, now in their fifth year, carry immense prestige. “We produce the best architects and designers in the world,” says Kevin McCloud, the Awards presenter, whose Grand Designs TV programme is now in its 12th year.

Past winners (from designer-makers to large architectural practices) have justified both McCloud’s pride in British design and the authority and diversity of the Awards. Last year, they ranged from a stunning banana silk rug, and a lighting pendant, to an eco home, and a huge housing development.

The Awards winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony during the show. The 17 distinguished judges (specialists for each category) include designer Sebastian Conran, architect/TV presenter George Clarke, and Theo Williams, creative director of Habitat. Our design writer Barbara Chandler will choose an overall winner for the coveted Homes, Property Award, to be presented by editor Janice Morley.

Do you have a top-class product or project? Or maybe you know someone who does? The Awards are split between Homes and Products, with seven categories within each section.

The entry deadline is 21 February 2010. Entries must be submitted online to www.granddesignsawards.com, which also has further details of the Awards.
